Abstract Cryptotanshinone (CPT), a terpenoid isolated from the roots of Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge, was reported to have neuroprotective effects against cerebral ischemic stroke. However, the exact molecular mechanism underlying its neuroprotective ability remains unclear. The present study aimed to explore the regulatory effects of CPT on oxygen-glucose deprivation/reoxygenation (OGD/R)-induced cell injury in a model of hippocampal neurons. Our results demonstrated that CPT improved cell viability and reduced the lactate dehydrogenase leakage in OGD/R-stimulated hippocampal neurons. In addition, CPT significantly inhibited oxidative stress and apoptosis in hippocampal neurons after OGD/R stimulation. Furthermore, CPT significantly enhanced the nuclear translocation of the nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) and heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) expression in hippocampal neurons exposed to OGD/R. Moreover, Nrf2 knockdown reversed the anti-apoptotic and anti-oxidant activities of CPT in primary hippocampal neurons exposed to OGD/R. In conclusion, these findings demonstrated that CPT attenuated oxidative stress and neuronal apoptosis after OGD/R injury through the activation of Nrf2/HO-1 signaling pathway in hippocampal neurons. Thus, CPT may be a novel therapeutic agent for cerebral I/R injury.

Resumo: Governança significa a política e a estratégia adotadas no processo de gestão de um país. Na longa história de mais de dois mil anos, o confucionismo tornou-se o núcleo cultural e a doutrina política da autocracia imperial, e a teoria da “governança de todo o país” contida nele tornou-se uma categoria importante na cultura tradicional chinesa. Deve-se aprofundar na rica conotação do pensamento de governança confucionista e construir um sistema de governança nacional que se adapte à sociedade, à situação geral e ao futuro, por meio de desenvolvimento inovador e transformação criativa, de modo a permitir que a excelente cultura tradicional chinesa retorne à base, para abrir um novo caminho e fazer o passado servir ao presente, fornecendo, assim, importante orientação teórica e referência histórica para o grande rejuvenescimento da nação chinesa.

Abstract: Governance means the policy and strategy adopted in the process of running a country. In the long history of more than two thousand years, Confucianism had become the cultural core and political doctrine of the imperial autocracy, and the theory of “governance of the whole country” contained in it had become an important category in traditional Chinese culture. We should dig deep into the rich connotation of Confucian governance thought, and build a national governance system that suits society, the overall situation and future through innovative development and creative transformation, so as to let excellent traditional Chinese culture return to open a new road and make the past serve the present, thus providing important theoretical guidance and historical reference for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

Abstract Serrapeptase, a proteolytic enzyme, has been used for the adjuvant treatment of many diseases. However, its fibrinolytic activity is still uncertain. Herein, the fibrinolytic activity of serrapeptase and its in vitro thrombolytic effects were investigated. The results showed that the fibrinolytic activity of serrapeptase was 1295 U/mg, and the specific activity was 3867 U/mg of protein when its proteolytic activity toward casein was 2800 U/mg. The optimum temperature and pH for serrapeptase activity were 37-40°C and 9.0, respectively. At 1 mmol/L, Zn2+, Mn2+ and Fe2+ could activate the fibrinolytic activity of serrapeptase, while K+, Cu2+, sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) and ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA) inhibited it. In vitro tests showed that serrapeptase could completely prevent blood coagulation at 150 U/mL, and the percentage of blood clot lysis reached 96.6% at 37°C after 4 h at 300 U/mL. These results indicate that serrapeptase has excellent fibrinolytic activity, and can be used as a health food or candidate drug for the prevention or treatment of thrombotic diseases.

Abstract On the basis of visual origin, shock wave reflection, and jet interference theories, this study aims to (1) divide the process of jet penetration into a hermetic single-cell structure into six parts, (2) establish a theoretical model of a single-cell structure interacting with a jet during its penetration into a structure, and (3) obtain the time expressions of a hermetic single-cell structure interfering with a jet. A residual penetration experiment is conducted to verify the accuracy of the model.

ABSTRACT Objective: miR-483-5p has been identified as a miRNA oncogene in certain cancers. However, its role in prostate cancer has not been sufficiently investigated. In this study, we investigated the role of miR-483-5p in prostate cancer and examined RBM5 regulation by miR-483-5p. Material and methods: Expression levels of miR-483-5p were determined by quantitative real-time PCR. The effect of miR-483-5p on proliferation was evaluated by MTT assay, cell invasion was evaluated by trans-well invasion assays, and target protein expression was determined by western blotting in LNCaP, DU-145, and PC-3 cells. Luciferase reporter plasmids were constructed to confirm the action of miR-483-5p on downstream target gene RBM5 in HEK-293T cells. Results: we observed that miR-483-5p was upregulated in prostate cancer cell lines and tissues. A miR-483-5p inhibitor inhibited prostate cancer cell growth and invasion in DU-145 and PC-3 cells. miR-483-5p directly bound to the 3' untranslated region (3'UTR) of RBM5 in HEK-293T cells. RBM5 overexpression inhibited prostate cancer cell growth and invasion in LNCaP cells. Enforced RBM5 expression alleviated miR-483-5p promotion of prostate cancer cell growth and invasion in LNCaP cells. Conclusion: The present study describes a potential mechanism underlying a miR-483-5p/RBM5 link that contributes to prostate cancer development.

Neste trabalho, propõe-se um novo método de remoção de ruído para imagens hiperspectrais avaliado com dados reais e simulados. Um cubo de predições de imagens hiperespectrais é calculado por regressão linear múltipla no domínio espectral com base na alta correlação do sinal útil e na não correlação do ruído aleatório nas bandas hiperespectrais É aplicada uma transformada complexa de wavelet bi-dimensional no domínio espectral derivado, no qual os níveis de ruído são temporariamente elevados para impedir a deformação do sinal durante a remoção do ruído, e então a compressão bivariada foi usado para compactar os coeficientes da transformada wavelet. Os resultados experimentais demonstraram que o método proposto possibilita obter resultados melhores do que outros métodos de remoção de ruídos encontrados na literatura, com melhoria da razão de ruído do sinal de 0.5dB para 10dB. Os dados reais utilizados mostraram que o método proposto é válido e efetivo.

In this paper, a new denoising method is proposed for hyperspectral remote sensing images, and tested on both the simulated and the real-life datacubes. Predicted datacube of the hyperspectral images is calculated by multiple linear regression in the spectral domain based on the strong spectral correlation of the useful signal and the inter-band uncorrelation of the random noise terms in hyperspectral images. A two dimensional dual-tree complex wavelet transform is performed in the spectral derivative domain, where the noise level is elevated temporarily to avoid signal deformation during the wavelet denoising, and then the bivariate shrinkage is used to shrink the wavelet coefficients. Simulated experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method obtains better results than the other denoising methods proposed in the reference, improves the signal to noise ratio up to 0.5dB to 10dB. The real-life data experiment shows that the proposed method is valid and effective.

A man complained of upper abdominal pain and early satiety for one month. An upper gastrointestinal endoscopy showed nothing special. A CT scan of the abdomen was performed, which demonstrated a huge heterogeneous retroperitoneal mass close to the dorsal wall of the stomach and surrounding the abdominal aortic and celiac trunk. The resected specimen suggested that an irregular tumor invaded the dorsal wall of the stomach. Postoperative histological examination confirmed that it was a gastric squamous cell carcinoma.

AbstractThe protective capability of the Kevlar fibre-reinforced rubber composite armour (KFRRCA) at different obliquities is studied using depth-of-penetration experiments method against a 56 mm-diameter standard-shaped charge. Efficiency factors are calculated to evaluate the protection capability of the KFRRCA at different obliquities. Meanwhile, an X-ray experiment is used to observe the deformation, fracture, and scatter of the shaped-charge jet as it penetrates the composite armour. Finally, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) is used to analyse the effect of the Kevlar fibre-reinforced rubber for the composite armour to resist jet penetration. The results showed that the KFEECA can be used as additional armour, because it has excellent protection capability, and it can disturb the stability of the middle part of the shaped charge jet (SCJ) obviously especially when the armour at 30°and 68° obliquities.

Estimativa do ruído de imagens hiperespectrais de sensoriamento remote é importante para o pós-processamento e aplicações. Nesta pesquisa, não somente a remoção da correlação espectral é considerada, como também a remoção da correlação espacial pela transformada wavelet . Portanto, um novo método baseado na regressão linear múltipla (MLR) com a transformada wavelet é proposto para estimar o ruído da imagem hiperespectrais de sensoriamento remoto. Uma simulação numérica de dados AVIRIS é executada, e dados reais Hyperion são utilizados para validar o algoritmo proposto. Resultados experimentais mostram que o método é mais adaptável e preciso do que o MLR geral e outros métodos classificados.

Noise estimation of hyperspectral remote sensing image is In this paper, not only the spectral correlation removing is considered, but the spatial correlation removing by wavelet transform is considered as well. Therefore, a new method based on multiple linear regression (MLR) and wavelet transform is proposed to estimate the noise of hyperspectral remote sensing image. Numerical simulation of AVIRIS data is carried out and the real data Hyperion is also used to validate the proposed algorithm. Experimental results show that the method is more adaptive and accurate than the general MLR and the other classified methods.

Flavonoids were extracted from the leaves of Acanthopanax brachypus Harms by microwave-assisted extraction (MAE), and four known flavonoids were isolated from the extracts by column chromatography. On the basis of physico-chemical constants and spectral data, their structures were elucidated as quercetin, quercitrin, rutin and hyperin. The influences of experimental conditions, such as solvent concentration, solution-solid ratio, microwave irradiation time and power on the extraction yields were discussed in orthogonal experiments. The four flavonoids content in the leaves was determined by HPLC analysis. The analytical results reveal that A. brachypus leaves are abundant in flavonoids, the contents of quercetin, quercitrin, rutin and hyperin are 0.86, 1.65, 2.19 and 2.68 mgg¹, respectively.

The fresh-water green unicellular alga Haematococcus pluvialis is known to accumulate astaxanthin under stress conditions. In the present study, transcriptional expression of eight genes involved in astaxanthin biosynthesis exposed to EBR (25 and 50 mg/L) was analyzed using qRT-PCR. The results demonstrated that both 25 and 50 mg/L EBR could increase astaxanthin productivity and the eight carotenogenic genes were up-regulated by EBR with different expression profiles. Moreover, EBR25 induction had a greater influence on the transcriptional expression of ipi-1, ipi-2, crtR-B, lyc and crtO (> 5- fold up-regulation) than on psy, pds, bkt; EBR50 treatment had a greater effect on the transcriptional expression of ipi-2, pds, lyc, crtR-B, bkt and crtO than on ipi-1 and psy. Furthermore, astaxanthin biosynthesis under EBR was up-regulated mainly by ipi1־ and psy at the post-transcriptional level, pds, lyc, crtR-B, bkt and crtO at the transcriptional level and ipi-2 at both levels.

The first total synthesis of 1-hydroxydehydroherbarin and ascomycones A and B is reported. The biologically interesting ascomycones A and B were obtained in 18% overall yield starting from 3-chloro-2,5-dimethoxybenzaldehyde as building block.

We investigated inheritance and carried out gene fine mapping of aroma in crosses between the aromatic elite hybrid rice Oryza sativa indica variety Chuanxiang-29B (Ch-29B) and the non-aromatic rice O. sativa indica variety R2 and O. sativa japonica Lemont (Le). The F1 grains and leaves were non-aromatic while the F2 non-aroma to aroma segregation pattern was 3:1. The F3 segregation ratio was consistent with the expected 1:2:1 for a single recessive aroma gene in Ch-29B. Linkage analysis between simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers and the aroma locus for the aromatic F2 plants mapped the Ch-29B aroma gene to a chromosome 8 region flanked by SSR markers RM23120 at 0.52 cM and RM3459 at 1.23 cM, a replicate F2 population confirming these results. Three bacterial artificial chromosome (BAC) clones cover chromosome 8 markers RM23120 and RM3459. Our molecular mapping data from the two populations indicated that the aroma locus occurs in a 142.85 kb interval on BAC clones AP005301 or AP005537, implying that it might be the same gene reported by Bradbury et al (2005a; Plant Biotec J. 3:363-370). The flanking markers Aro7, RM23120 and RM3459 identified by us could greatly accelerate the efficiency and precision of aromatic rice breeding programs.
